The Metal Monkey day pillar
a pile of raw, uncut ore
What is a Metal Monkey like?
Firm, decisive and loyal, the Metal Monkey puts great weight on keeping faith with friends. Once they choose a path, they follow it to the end. Their true worth shows in a crisis, when they are the one calmly organizing everyone during a power outage while others panic.
What 庚申 is made of
A Metal Monkey day pillar means the pillar of your birth day is 庚申 (gyeong-sin). In 庚申, the top character 庚 (Yang Metal) is your day master, and the bottom character 申, the Monkey, sits in the spouse seat with Metal energy. The main energy hidden in that spouse seat is "Friend" for this day master, and the day master's strength there is the "Prime" stage of the 12 life stages (solid, self-reliant strength). How day pillars are read
Metal Monkey strengths and watch-outs

- Works at an even, steady pace

- Bristles under close supervision
- Would rather do it alone than share credit
The Metal Monkey at their best
During an emergency, a Metal Monkey takes charge, makes clear decisions, and gets everyone home safe.
Polishing their words the way a jeweler polishes stone can help their strength come across as care.
Metal Monkey in love and marriage
They want an equal partnership with their spouse, though two strong wills can collide over everyday choices. Using a softer tone, even in a simple request, can change the whole mood of the relationship at home.
Why?
The Metal Monkey's spouse seat is 申, the Monkey. Its main hidden energy, 庚, counts as "Friend" (peers and self-reliance) for a Yang Metal day master.
How the Metal Monkey works
Plenty of strength is already built into the Metal Monkey. They finish their work without reminders and perform better next to equally skilled peers, while micromanagement drains their drive quickly. Like raw ore, they do not shy away from rough tasks. Results-based independent technical contracts, solo territory or field lead roles, and hands-on leadership of a small team fit them well.
The Metal Monkey in 2027
For a Metal Monkey, who moves without being told, Yin Fire arrives as rules, reviews and recognition from above, the role a Direct Officer plays. Solo work may gain reporting lines or a formal title. Monkey and Goat have no formal relation, so nothing stirs underneath. Goat earth is the kind that holds and feeds metal, like ore thickening inside a vein, so expect little friction and steady growth. Pick one task you have handled alone and start sharing regular progress updates on it.
Why?
In the Fire Goat year (丁未), the heavenly stem 丁 is Fire, which is "Direct Officer" (order, duty and recognition) for the Metal Monkey's Yang Metal day master. Its earthly branch 未, the Goat, has no special harmony or clash with the spouse seat 申, the Monkey.
