Your tarot card for today
Draw one card for your day. Our deck follows the traditional 1909 Waite–Smith tarot, redrawn in Korean style: hanbok clothing, tile-roofed villages and tigers and magpies from minhwa, Korean folk painting.
Shuffling the deck…
Major Arcana (22 cards)
Wands (14 cards)
Wands are about passion, work and action: the energy to start something and push it forward. Element: Fire.
Cups (14 cards)
Cups are about feelings, love and relationships: the heart filling up and flowing over. Element: Water.
Swords (14 cards)
Swords are about thoughts, words and decisions, including the cuts that sharp judgment can leave. Element: Air.
Pentacles (14 cards)
Pentacles are about the things you can hold: money, work, your body and your home. Element: Earth.
Symbols we changed
Most symbols stay exactly where the 1909 deck put them. A few were swapped for Korean equivalents with the same meaning.
- The Lovers
two unclothed figures → two figures in hanbok. The two people facing each other beneath the angel, and the two trees of fruit and flame, stay exactly as they were.
- The Chariot
black and white sphinxes → black and white haetae. We kept the black and white pair because it stands for two opposing forces guided by willpower.
- Strength
lion → tiger. In minhwa folk painting the tiger stands for courage and protection. The meaning of guiding gently instead of by force stays the same.
- The Devil
goat's head and the inverted star on the forehead → a horned human face. The heart of this card, that the chains are loose enough to remove yourself, stays the same.
- The Star
an ibis in the tree → a magpie in the tree. In minhwa folk painting the magpie brings happy news, which fits a card about hope.
About these readings
Each card page gives the traditional upright and reversed meanings, what the card says about love, work and money, a yes-or-no reading, a walk through our picture, one everyday moment when the card might come up, questions to ask yourself and the card it's most often mixed up with. The meanings follow the 1909 Waite-Smith tradition; only the art is new.
The daily draw above picks one card per day by your local date, with about a three in ten chance of a reversed card. Your card is saved only in this browser on this device, so it stays the same if you come back later that day.
